"This bag can be used by men as well as women. It's great as a light-weight suitcase; you can secure your clothing with elastic fasteners. It's machine washable as well. The cotton fabric used to make this bag was bought on a local market in Nepal and checked for quality. It was then cleaned and sent to an environmentally friendly dying unit. Sunlight dries the cotton threads. The women who made this lovely bag, first prepared the cotton threads and wove them on a loom. The fabric was then cut and sewn into bags.
The organization that produced this bags provides handicraft-related skills training to poor, unfortunate Nepalese women so that they may become self-supportive. Many women are from rural villages and are widowed, divorced, disabled or abused; some have been cast out from their homes and villages. They get training in material cutting, sewing, weaving, dying, business management and various other skills related to handicraft production.
